1935 House is situated in the National Park of Avala,16 km from the center of Belgrade, where part of its premises have turned into an artist-run space for contemporary art with a residency program for international curators and professional creatives. Within walking distance/reach is the beautiful national park of Avala, where one can enjoy long, peaceful walks in the reach and densely forested scenery. The villa has a beautiful garden stretching on two levels, with yearly maintenance.
Studio 511 invites applications from artists, writers, curators, designers/makers, musicians, filmmakers, and other creative practitioners for self-funded, self-directed residencies.
The residency offers a fully supportive working space to cultivate authentic productivity.
Applications are welcome from professional creatives who would benefit from uninterrupted time to focus on developing their work.
The residency upholds partnerships beneficial to resident artists in developing helpful connections with crucial cultural institutions in Belgrade and a good network of local professional creatives, both from the independent and institutional sectors.

FOUNDERS
Filip Matic, a practicing artist, trained at Istituto Europeo Di Design, a Graphic design department then run by Professor Franco Zeri, in Rome, Italy; before becoming a full-time artist, Matic involved himself in design projects and occupied positions as an Art director in Belgrade and Oslo. He held exhibitions in Serbia and internationally. He has also been working on curatorial projects, employing alternative models of artistic collaboration.
